Special Needs

One of the goals of Chihuahua & Small Dog Rescue, Inc. is to rehabilitate our rescued furry friends to a happy, healthy state so they can be adopted.

However, because we rescue ALL Chihuahuas, and Chihuahua mixes and other small breeds, regardless of age or health, rehabilitation is not always possible. Many of our Chihuahuas are rescued from backyard breeders, puppy mills and shelters, and come to us with multiple health problems and/or behavior issues. We rescue them in spite of, and because of, these serious problems. Some of the problems we know about beforehand and some we find out about later.

A few of the conditions that contribute to these little ones being un-adoptable are:

  • Congestive heart failure
  • Cancer
  • Brain Tumors

If diagnosed early enough, some of these conditions CAN be treated. When these conditions are allowed to progress to an untreatable and painful stage, the little one is not able to be adopted and becomes our permanent fosters. The little one then will live out the remainder of their lives in comfort, where they are loved and cherished, in our homes.

If one of these special Chihuahua tugs at your heart, please consider making a donation. Donations will go toward the continuing care of these very special little ones. All donors' names will be listed in the dog's bio or here if the donation is to for all the special little ones.

Special Needs Little Ones:

There are so many Chihuahuas who need our help, and many of them need urgent medical treatment. Often, the decision to save a dog's life can boil down to our ability to pay for his or her medical bills. This can become very expensive, and can quickly drain our resources.

But when a dog needs help, we do our best to get them the treatment that they require. We depend on our supporters to help us to pay for these life-saving expenses.

If you wish to make a tax-deductible donation to any of the special little ones shown here, please make your check payable to: Chihuahua & Small Dog Rescue, Inc. and mail it to:

Thumbalina (Unadoptable)

Thumbalina has had some seizers one really bad one that had her flopping all over the floor and it really scared her foster brothers and sisters. She went through some tests and it is not epilepsy, it is a brain tumor so she is not unadoptable and will live out the rest of her  life right here with her foster Mom. So, if you could help with the medical bills with a kind donation I would love you forever.

Your little furry friends,

Thumbalina
