If you are looking for a unique and rewarding volunteer experience, Chihuahua & Small Dog Rescue, Inc., has a number of ways in which teens can help homeless dogs. We take in dogs that are no longer wanted and provide temporary homes while we look for the perfect forever home for them. We also take in dogs from high-kill shelters throughout the state of Colorado, where many unwanted puppies and dogs would otherwise be euthanized.
- Minimum age is 12 years or older
- Parental permission required
- Must have prior dog experience! You must either have owned a dog, currently own a dog, or have worked with dogs, i.e., pet sitting or dog walking.
- Must supply two adult references other than a relative, i.e., Guidance Counselor, Teacher or Youth Pastor.
Volunteer opportunities include helping at our Meet & Greets on Saturdays, as well as helping with fundraisers and other projects that help promote our mission of saving dogs.
Volunteering involves more than just playing with the dogs. It involves cleaning crates, bathing the dogs, and walking them. The job does involve cleaning up dog waste so if you’re opposed to that, you might not want to volunteer.
Other opportunities will be bake sales or car washes or some other events to benefit Chihuahua & Small Dog Rescue, Inc.
Please fill out the application below if you would like to volunteer. A Chihuahua & Small Dog Rescue volunteer will contact you once your application is received. Please email questions to firstname.lastname@example.org.
